TIKI INSPIRED RUM PUNCH

As part of the wellness program I help run at the office, we wanted to focus on stress management and balance. Many individuals experience stress from difference scenarios in life and to different extents. Understanding how to approach this is incredibly important. 

As we discuss what stress was and how was can change our though processes to change our emotional reactions, the concept of mindfulness and acceptance was the suggested approach. It made me think about the stress and live experiences I have had. Most importantly, it made me think about how it's ok to accept my emotions.

While we strive to be strong and accomplish to much, our fast past society sometimes makes us forget that it's ok to lounge, it's ok to cry, it's ok to be human. While I certainly am one to keep my days jam-packed, I recognize when it's time to slow down and just decompress. 

And with that note, I bring you my tiki-rum punch. As the weather heats up here in NYC, this is the perfect drink to have after a long day and enjoy the weather.

Warning: this drink packs some strength! Sip with caution!

Servings: 1 drink

Ingredients:

  • 3 sliced strawberries
  • 1 slice of ginger
  • 3 oz of fresh orange juice
  • 1 oz of triple sec
  • 1 oz of coconut rum
  • 1 1/2 oz of white rum 
  • 1/3 cup of guava juice 

Directions:

  1. In a tall glass, muddle the strawberries and ginger together
  2. Add in the orange juice, triple sec, coconut rum, white rum, and guava juice.
  3. Shake over ice in a cocktail shaker.
  4. Strain into a glass filled with ice.
  5. Top with an orange slice and strawberry
  6. Enjoy!
